About Tanya

Trust the still, small voice that says, “this might work and I’ll try it.”               — Diane Mariechild

Tanya Rusheon is a freelance writer and editor from Tacoma, Washington. When she was twenty-three, she joined the Air Force to see the world and was stationed in middle Georgia where she met and married her husband. When she is not writing, she is performing duties as an consulting editor for Ante-Social Media Group and researching new and exciting details to incorporate into her fictional worlds.

An accomplished student, Tanya has earned four degrees, including a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. In high school, Tanya was always found wearing a long trench coat; it was the only coat with big enough pockets to fit a dictionary, a notebook, and whichever novel she was reading at the time. Living in Georgia for several years has compelled her to forego the trench coat look.

Tanya specializes in character-driven stories of historical fiction and fantasy infused with paranormal themes. She loves research and fills her tales with expository detail, enriching her work with the interesting tidbits she has uncovered. Her personable writing style incorporates practical wisdom reminiscent of early works of Americana with a peppering of dry irony thrown in for good measure. Her most recent publication “Safely Stuck in a Rut” appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Reboot Your Life. She is currently working on Shadow Chase, a weird western set in the mountains of the Washington Territory.
